West Pier, East Sussex

Lisa Holdcroft is a local Artist based in Brighton - her style is very much her own, with her unfussy, colourful illustrations capturing so much fun and detail.

This illustration is of the Wesr Pier in Brighton.  When the Pier was built in 1866 it was the most magnificent pier that had ever been built.  It's architect Eugenius Birch, designed 14 piers during his career and this was his masterpiece.  Over time the West Pier has suffered neglect, storms and two arson attacks and sadly this iconic and much loved Pier is now no more than a shell.
