Brighton Pier, East Sussex
Lisa Holdcroft is a local Artist based in Brighton - her style is very much her own, with her unfussy, colourful illustrations capturing so much fun and detail.
This illustration is of Brighton Pier - over the past 20 years the Pier has seen its name change a little - in 2000 signage on the Pier was changed to Brighton Pier, however locals still fondly referred to it as the 'Palace Pier'. In 2016 after a change of owners again - the Pier was renamed the 'Brighton Palace Pier' once more.
Once upon a time, Brighton had three Piers - this Pier was the third to be built in the late 1800's. In the 1930s the end of the Pier was extended to make for Dodgem Cards and a Ferris Wheel. Even though it has suffered storms, partial collapse and even a fire, Brighton Pier still remains a strong destination for locals and visitors for traditional seaside fun.
